Sons Of The Almighty

These orders were established as a means for every Marine sentry to consistently attend to his duties regardless of where he was posted.  We had these general orders pounded into us from day one of boot camp and for over four decades I have remembered them (maybe not word for word) but I carry a copy of them in my Bible and that is why I think they are as important for me today as they were when I was a young Marine.  As a husband and a father, my “Post” is my family.  While they are not government property, God has set me as the primary leadership figure in their lives.  Because of that, I must be always alert and observe everything that takes place within sight or hearing (the 2nd GO).  As a young Marine I was trained to do this.  As a husband and father, I may or may not have know how to do this.  I had to learn and be trained by those who had demonstrated that they are solid men of God and good mentor’s.  This I have done over the many years that God has given me and now I hope I can do the same for those who are needing a mentor.  As you go down through the rest of the GO’s you can see how they apply to us here and now.  I take this to another level as well.  When I pray, I often ask God to help me in these areas and will take one GO and pray specifically for that area of my life.  There is an old saying that a “Marine on duty has no friends”.  Well, men of God are always a target of the enemy and we are always on duty.  This doesn’t mean that we can never have any friends but it does mean that we must be very serious about our responsibilities because as in any combat environment, it’s just not our lives that are put in danger but also those who we are charged to watch over.  And believe me my friend, if you don't think we’re in warfare you must be living under a rock!   If you are in need, please seek help and if you don’t know where to turn, email me and maybe I can help you find that help.
