• Foreword

In my first book, Ride to the Wall, Jack began a new journey in life.  The road he took had been chosen for him by a kind and loving Father, Jack just started paying attention.  My basic intention in writing this book was to show that a life in Christ knows no boundaries and is packed with wonder and excitement.  As one studies the life of Jesus Christ it’s not hard to find a Son, who was totally committed to doing whatever his Father bid him to do, even to giving his life over to those who were determined to end it.

Jack and the Soldiers have just gotten a small sample of how God does things in the Kingdom.  I believe with all my heart that God desires to use each one of us in the ways I’ve written about.  While my first book was more of a journal of those things that God was putting on my heart over the course of ten years, I knew that the story must continue……

This book is called Boanerges-The Sons of Thunder; for I’ve been impressed of God to take Jack and the Soldiers through real life situations that follow the writings of the Apostle John through the eyes of him, and his brother James.  Jesus gave these two brothers the name of Boanerges (bō’ənûr`jēz)  which was the surname of the sons of Zebedee, their father and then called them the “Sons of Thunder”.

Each book of the New Testament is unique and while John is considered one of the four gospels, his writings differ from those of Matthew, Mark and Luke, which are generally known for their shared common viewpoints.  John has much to say of stories and teachings that are not found in the collective works that precede him in the New Testament.

Most Christian evangelists recommend that a new believer in Jesus Christ read the Gospel of John first for this reason:  It is generally known to be the simplest to understand while being very profound and inspiring, causing the reader to go back and read repeatedly.

It is for this reason that I’ve been inspired to write stories that will illustrate the insight and applications that this gospel has for us in our daily lives.  Regardless of whether we ride a Harley Davidson around the city of LA or a moped around the suburbs of Kansas City; God wants to use us to take the ministry of Jesus Christ and the message of the Cross to those who are lost and hurting.

My hope is that as you read this book, you will do so with your Bible open.  My goal is not to entertain you but to encourage you.  I pray every day that my words would open a heart to Gods Holy Spirit and that someone would find the love of Jesus Christ as a result of these words.  The reality is that the Words of God are more precious than gold or silver and does not need any help from a knot head like me.  But, I’m one of his many sons and He gets blessed when I do what He wants of me, and I want to bless, so I write………
